Character Attributes

Character's Full Name: Ridon Akuin
Status Desired (Red Tower, Royalty, or Citizen): Recruit
Home Country: Andor
Age:18
Appearance:

Ridon is quite short, standing at around 5'5''. He is extremely lean, and at first glance appears to be a bit of a push over. He does not like to walk around bare-chested like so many other recruits and some of the more vain warders, and often covers up. He has nothing to be ashamed of, as he has trained and toned his body from a relatively early age. As soon as he was old enough to build up his muscles (at around 15) he has worked hard at making his body ready for the gruelling training he was destined for as a recruit. His stamina is his advantage and ever since he was an early teen he has ran across harsh terrain to increase his endurance. He is fast over long distances and quite a good sprinter, even though his body favours endurance.

His dark, cropped hair is always messy; he has no vanity to speak of. His clothes are simple cotton shirts and slacks; lose for easy movement, and durable. His eyes are unremarkable, a dark grey that are often called cold and calculating. As he covers up most of the time his skin is quite pale, its natural complexion waxen and pallid. Even though he is off a small stature his body is toned and honed for combat and he is as strong and as skilful with weapons as those he has trained with as a recruit.

Character Details
Personality (at least 2 paragraphs):

A quiet young man, contemplative and often called philosophical. Ridon does not cleave to the physicality of being a warder, but rather respects the role that they play and has a deeply ingrained belief that the Aes Sedai are noble and their duty ordained of Light. He grew up in Andor, which has a history of supporting Tar Valon, and he was raised to respect the One Power and seek to aid it in whatever way he could. There is a tradition in his family for sending boys to train as Warders but until his cousin Simian, none had completed that training for almost a hundred years. He was written off as another failure when he did not develop physically as his family expected. He was smaller then his brothers, and seemingly more feeble. This lack of belief and casting aside inspired him to work hard at becoming a warder, and to do everything he could to make himself a warrior. His single mindedness and refusal to fail, and his ability to turn what should have been rejection into something positive summarises Ridon perfectly.

He is not a quitter, and he refuses t be bogged down with self doubt and denial. He does not shirk responsibility and despair if a problem seems unsolvable. Instead he works hard to find a solution. He has a strong sense of duty, and an unshakable loyalty. He is looking forward to being bonded and waits patiently for the day he will be made a Warder, eager to prove himself in his tests and make his family proud.

He looks up to Simian and sees him as the standard he must reach.

He can also be a bit of a loner sometimes as he is often the first to start training and the last to leave. He does have some close friends, but can be a bit of a killjoy sometimes, and would do well to find a brothel somewhere and as his friends put it 'loosen up'. He is someone to find endearing though, and his quiet attitude can often be overlooked, which is to the loss of those who do it.

Likes (at least 5, with a sentence for each):
Horses: Growing up in the rural area's of Andor and no where near a big city, the horses remind him of his childhood and he often mucks out and goes riding to relax.
Full Moons: Deep down Ridon is a romantic, and a full moon often disperses his pragmatic side.
Books: He could hardly be called an extensive reader, but the more sophisticated side of his training has opened up a new world to him. He loves reading...
Hunting: His skill with the bow a huge reason why he enjoys hunting. It was one of the only talents he had that his family respected, and as a Recruit it is a handy skill to have. He enjoys the hunt, and revels in his success, but modestly - of course.
Running: Particularly cross country.

Dislikes (at least 5, with a sentence for each):
Vanity: Ridon hates vain men and women and sees it as a serious flaw. He has little patience with vain people.
Travel: Probably not the most convenient of dislikes, as he may be bonded with an Aes Sedai who travels a lot, but Ridon is a homely soul and hopes he bonds with a Tower bound AS.
Hypocrisy: Quite an altruistic person, and unforgiving. He sees hypocrisy as dishonest and does not tolerate it.
Cheese: He is not a fan of cheese, the reason most likely being he tasted some as a child and promptly vomited it back up. He thinks all cheese looks and smells like vomit.
Class Divides: This has nothing to do with being brought up on a poor farm. Ridon is a kind soul and hates seeing people go without. The attitude of the rich is something he abhors and wishes there was an equal distribution of wealth.

For a young man, he really does think too much.

Character History
Family:

His father is a farmer and runs a small plot of land in the south of Andor. They are deep in the countryside and secluded from most people. The closest village is over twenty miles away. They sustained themselves, and sometimes made trips to the village to trade and buy off the passing pedlar or merchant. Ridon is the cousin of Simian Dacascos, whose mother is the sister of Ridon's own mother. His family all lived on various farms across the south of Andor and it was with them that they had most contact with and most socialisation. Ridon has three older brothers, and no other siblings. His mother died about a year after he left to train as a warder, and his brothers are all failed recruits.

Personal History:

Being such a young man, he does not have much of a story to tell. He was close to his mother, something his brothers often teased him about, and she taught him penitence, open mindedness, tolerance and love. He was the youngest child by almost eight years and his brothers had been to Tar Valon and failed before he was even in his teens. His father was not even going to send him to train, but at his mother’s behest, he relented. Ridon was taken to Tar Valon by Simian, and there he fell very quickly and with ease into the training and lifestyle of a Recruit. His dedication earned him respect from his tutors and his time as a Recruit has been the happiest time of his life. He looks forward to seeing his cousin when he visits, which alas is far less then he had hoped. Ridon believes in a Warders duty to his Aes Sedai though and never questions his cousin’s servitude of Rianna.

Ridon is close to becoming a warder, but he still has some important tests to take before he can be promoted. He expects Simian's return soon, as he has asked that he help him complete his training...

Personal Goals and Philosophies:

Ridon's primary goal is to become a Warder and serve an Aes Sedai to the best of his ability. He believes in their calling, and he supports the White Tower wholly. His personal philosophy is that of forbearance, selflessness and making the best out of what natural abilities you have been given. He believes all must try to turn weaknesses to strengths and that with perseverance anything is possible. Success is refusing to stay down after life has knocked you over and failure is giving up. If you spend your entire life trying then that is a noble life and demands respect. Some see is as foolhardy, Ridon sees it as determination.
